Herwart von der Decken show 2022
An absolute breeding highlight is the Herwart von der Decken Show, which annually presents the best three-year-old mares from Hanover and the Rhineland. 73 representatives from the 2019 crop, which are registered with the district associations of the Hanoverian Association, were presented to fight for the title ‘Champion Mare’. The nominated mares with excellent pedigrees, which have already been highly decorated at the mare shows of the horse breeding associations, were put in front of a highly experienced jury.
The top 20 jumping mares were judged by Harm Sievers, Tasdorf, Presidium member Hergen Forkert and Breeding Director Ulrich Hahne. This assessment consisted of the evaluation of the free jumping and an in-hand presentation in the For Pleasure arena. Hann.Pr.A. Olympia by Ogano/Diacontinus was crowned ‘Champion Mare’, breeder and owner: Enrico Messelis, Kefferhausen. This success is particularly special – five years ago her dam Hann.Pr.St. Dinara by Diacontinus/Quintender wore the sash of the jumping champion mare on the lap of honour, Hann.Pr.A. Olympia now did the same. “Highly modern in type and equipped with a lot of blood and go“, according to breeding director Ulrich Hahne. The title ‘Reserve Champion Mare’ was awarded to Hann.Pr.A. Sofia Lolita by Stolzenberg/Valentino (breeder and owner: Stefan Kleine, Warmsen), who convinced especially with her scope and oversight at the jump.

At noon, 53 dressage mares took the stage with exquisite pedigrees. The mares danced on the triangular ring in front of the jury, which consisted of the two Olympic team winners Sönke Rothenberger and Heike Kemmer, as well as breeding director Ulrich Hahne. The Hann.Pr.A. Exclusive by Escamillo/Fidertanz, Breeder and Owner: Johannes Westendarp, Wallenhorst, was awarded as the best 3 year old dressage mare 2022. “She shone with a strong start, a dynamic trot and used the walk ring to win the panel over” Ulrich Hahne was full of praise.” The title Reserve Champion Mare was awarded to Hann.Pr.A. Barcelona, a Baron/Don Diamond daughter (breeder and owner: Herbert Linz, Baindt), which was a very special mare for the judges as she showed herself elegantly and sure-footed.
Finally, the best mare family of the past show season was awarded the Friedrich Jahncke Prize. This was awarded to the three daughters of the St.Pr.St. Faconnable. The Fürst Heinrich/Calypso II mare brought with Belissimo M the St.Pr.St. Barcelona and the Hann.Pr.A. Brasilia and with Baron the Hann.Pr.A. Bogota the best mare family. All mares are bred and owned by the Brüning family from Ochtmannien.
